Virginia

Louisiana, February 1863, during the American Civil War. Doyle, a deserter at the end of the southern army, arrives in the small town of Lake Providence, held by Union troops. Alcoholic and morphine-like, the man seeks not only to escape the Confederates, but also to escape from his own memories: former sniper, he had to murder a child in cold blood during a mission, and since then feels haunted By the phantom of the little girl, whose visions assail her more and more often. During a particularly violent, hallucinatory crisis, he defeated four soldiers. A comic by Séverine Gauthier and Benoît Blary.
Virginia's volume 1, Morpheus, inaugurates a particularly fascinating story of escape and quest, which will see Doyle join in spite of himself a maroon community of slaves in flight Borrowed from the Arawaks, this term designates from 1540 the fugitive slaves then became synonymous with savage, returned to the state of nature) having found refuge in the bayous of Louisiana. The first volume of a seductive trilogy, and the discovery of two talented authors.
