When the intoxicating smoke of cigars of Havana reveals the secrets of two centuries old family, between Cuba and Geneva. In Geneva, nowadays, Antoine Chatel is for two years the private secretary of Charles Porter, the last cigar nabob. Today, he discovers the dead body of his boss, murdered with a bullet in the heart, while he himself came to kill him. Taken aback, he does not lose the north and finds what he had come to get: the memories of a certain Diego Antonio Castellano who, in 1825, flees Europe and its troubled past to embark on board a slave to Cuba, the pearl of the West Indies. There, he hopes to take advantage of the abolition of the Spanish royal monopoly on the tobacco trade to become a farmer and trader.
