The Forever War

The Forever War is a 1988 Belgian science fiction graphic novel trilogy drawn by Marvano and closely based on the award-winning The Forever War novel by Joe Haldeman, who has noted that he "supplied all of the dialogue and scripted [the comic] like a movie".
Drawn in the ligne claire style and originally published in Dutch as De Eeuwige Oorlog, it tells the story of William Mandella, an elite soldier fighting for Earth in a centuries-long interstellar war against the 'Taurans'. The series focuses mainly on the dehumanising effects of war and its attendant bureaucracy.

Grand Prix

In the interwar period, motor racing was an extremely popular sport in Europe. Shopping, spectacular and deadly, attracted tens or even hundreds of thousands of spectators. Grand Prix in three parts traces the history of this microcosm in the last years before World War II and how Hitler used this sport for its propaganda. This is a story mixing action romance, danger, exotic trips, adultery, humor, drink, drugs and melancholy, in an era of hope, deprivation, waiting, carefree and growing threat. A time when people just lived from day to day, hoping that there would be a tomorrow. This comic is created by Marvano in 2010 with Dargaud Publications.

Dallas Barr

Dallas Barr is a comic book series (or "graphic novel") by Belgian artist Marvano (Mark van Oppen) adapted from American science fiction author Joe Haldeman's 1989 novel Buying Time. The series ran from 1996 to 2005. Although the first comic in the series clearly draws on Joe Haldeman's Buying Time ( UK title: The Long Habit of Living), the plots of the following volumes continue beyond the end of the original novel. The plots of the continuation were written by Haldeman in English, translated into French by Marvano. The later volumes are written by Marvano alone, as Haldeman found him to do a good job.
The protagonist, Dallas Barr, is 132 years old. The series takes place around 2075, in a world where a prolonged life is available to the ultra rich through the Stileman Procedure, where the moon is a colony and AIDS-X is rampant.  In the series the author challenges the reader to reflect on the issues at hand. Politics, philosophy and humanity's stupidity are often given a chance in this series. Over the years, the plot got more complicated and the characters came to their full potential, while at the same time its philosophical considerations deepened.
