Kansas, 1861. As tensions rise between the Northern and Southern states, a fanatical, violent preacher leaves a trail of corpses behind him, all the while calling people to take up arms against pro-slavery states. The main character is a lonely man, nicknamed "the peacemaker". It kills only in self-defense. From the second volume, Durango lost the use of his right hand. He quickly becomes good with the left hand and buys a Mauser C96, the first automatic weapon, which gives him certain advantages.

The character Durango is a species of hero archetype Italian western - a kind of synthesis between Django, Silence and character that Clint Eastwood embodied in the first three westerns of Sergio Leone.
