Lured by visions of fame and big city excitement from her small midwest hometown, Margot instead finds her spotlight as a "wrecker" in the seedy and dangerous ghettos of Harlem. Working secretly as an advocate for the homeless, she is enlisted by the famous philanthropist Aubrey Monk, who has plans of his own for New York's down and out...but whose interests does he have in mind?
