During a boat trip, Czentovic, world chess champion, finds himself faced with a stranger who manages to beat him. This unknown learned chess from a manual during a long stay in a cell courtesy of the Nazis. A short story written in 1941, which stands as a testimony against Nazi attempts at dehumanization. Stefan Zweig's masterpiece enhanced by the talent of David Sala.
