Black Paths (2011)

As the epileptic brother loses control of his own life, the artist develops solitary obsessions with cartoons, mythology and war. So Van Hamme wrote to him this story which sees the young Epoxy amazon tossed by the gods between pain and pleasure.

The Masters of the Barley

The Masters of the Barley is a series of comics created by Jean Van Hamme and illustrated by Francis Vallès. This series tells the adventures of Steenfort family over several generations, creating a brewery craft in the Belgian Brabant half the XIX th century to the creation of a multinational beer with headquarters in the United States the dawn of the year 2000. It blends precise documentation on the tradition of brewing craft a historico-economic background back, which transcribes well the evolution of the western world for a century through the example breweries, and all kinds of purely fictional adventures that happen to different characters. 

Each volume follows a particular family members at a key moment in his life and the history of Steenfort breweries. Generally, it takes 25 years between episodes, which does not prevent some characters to appear in several volumes a row.
The latest volume, The Steenfort , is a collection of short stories that shed light on different events occurring between each other tomes.

Rani

Rani is a serial comic, written by Alcante from an original screenplay by Jean Van Hamme and illustrated by Francis Vallès. 

The story begins in the year 1743. The young Jolanne Valcourt is the daughter born out of wedlock old Marquis Charles de Valcourt, who nevertheless recognized. Philippe Valcourt half brother Jolanne, murders his father and then robs her half-sister by making her take responsibility for another crime he himself committed. Escaped, joined a band of robbers and arrested again, Jolanne manages to escape execution by hiding under the identity of another prisoner. She was deported to the French Indies , where many adventures await. As the war between European powers resonates to India, Valcourt of the marquis died, leaving the future of the family at the hand of his son Philip, notorious libertine. His only glimmer of hope lay in Jolanne, natural girl he recognized and erected with the nuns in the vain hope of tempering a strong character. Philippe does not intend to let this bastard relative to the nose in its affairs.

Wayne Shelton

Wayne Shelton is a Belgian comic series that began in June in 2001 by Jean Van Hamme as a writer and Christian Denayer as a draftsman. The series revolves around character Wayne Shelton, a Vietnam vet who treats own expense expensive, seemingly impossible tasks for money. He usually works for (former) friends also sporadically for the government, sometimes under duress. Some adventures are spread across several albums, one album others are long. He has a loose relationship with Honesty Goodness, but also often with other women to bed. Shelton is no longer the youngest, and is therefore often teased by his friends. Most stories play in the Middle East, often in fictitious countries. 

Characters

• Wayne Shelton: a James Bond figure on age, who adventures by performing impossible tasks for money.
• Honesty Goodness: A sexy vaudeville artist who helps Wayne in almost all albums. His steady mistress, but also goes with other men to bed. Plays like "Zhang".
• Pierre Madrier: Wayne friend who sometimes assists.
• Djemail Kahn : desert robber Wayne sometimes helps, sometimes against them.
• Horace T. Quayle: Billionaire who first Wayne gives orders, then be killed by him.

Lady S.

Lady S. is a Franco-Belgian comics series written by Jean Van Hamme, illustrated by Philippe Aymond and published by Dupuis in French and Cinebook in English. Lady S. is an agent working for the secretive non-governmental organisation the Centre for Anti-Terrorism Research and Intelligence Gathering (CATRIG). She is also the aide to her adopted father who is a USA diplomat. Previously she had been a refugee and a thief. CATRIG is an organisation and nobody has clue on that. It has been run by a group of retired intelligence officers of EU. 

Adopted daughter and principal collaborator of James Fitzroy, roving ambassador, special correspondent for the American Secretary of State in Europe, Susan is a clever, multilingual young woman, in full bloom and perfectly happy in the eyes of an attentive father.But this too-perfect happiness hides many faults, sorrows and mysteries. Trapped by her past, Susan will have to play her most dangerous role in a life already rich with adventure: Lady S, high-class spy in a diplomatic environment.

 

Largo Winch

Largo Winch is a Belgian comic book series by Philippe Francq and Jean Van Hamme, published by Dupuis. It has started as a series of novels by Jean Van Hamme in the late 1970s, but stopped due to a lack of success and the huge amount of work Van Hamme had in the meantime with his comic books (e.g. Thorgal). When artist Philippe Francq wanted to start a series with Van Hamme, he revived his old hero, and reworked the novels into the first albums of the comic series. Later, new stories followed.

Its principal character is Largo Winch; birth name Largo Winczlav, who was born in Yugoslavia. Other important characters include Nerio Winch (his adoptive father, though they share a great-grandparent), senior Group W executives John D. Sullivan and Dwight E. Cochrane, and his friend Simon Ovronnaz. In the first two volumes of the series, L'héritier and Le Groupe W, Largo, a young and handsome orphan, is propelled to the head of a business empire, Group W, after his adoptive father Nerio is murdered, and goes through a lot of troubles to preserve his inheritance and avenge Nerio. The following albums are more or less based on the same basic plot: someone is trying to harm Largo's company or to take control of it from him, and he has to fight that someone to ensure the survival of his holdings. Almost every story arc involves corrupt authority figures of a type which Nerio easily manipulated, but Largo confronts from the viewpoint of an "everyman".

Thorgal

Thorgal is a Belgian fantasy comic book series by the Belgian writer Jean Van Hamme and the Polish graphic artist Grzegorz Rosiński. It combines several themes and legends, ranging from Norse mythology and Atlantean fantasy to science fiction, and such genres as dark drama, horror and adventure stories.

The comic first appeared in serial form in Tintin magazine in 1977, and has been published in hardcover volumes by Le Lombard from 1980 on. Translations exist in English and many other languages. In 2002, it was adapted as a adventure video game, Thorgal: Curse of Atlantis, by Cryo Interactive Entertainment. Thorgal is critically acclaimed and one of the most popular French language comics, with more than 11 million Thorgal books in print. There are presently three ongoing successful spin-off series, in addition to the continuation of the main Thorgal adventures.

XIII

XIII (Thirteen) is a Belgian graphic novel series about an amnesiac who seeks to discover his past. It was created by writer Jean Van Hamme and artist William Vance. XIII was released in 1984 as a serial in the popular Spirou magazine, and it was popular among Spirou readers. The first three episodes were released as a single hardcover volume by Dargaud the same year. XIII was originally written in French, and it was translated into several languages, including Dutch, German, Polish, Tamil, Serbo-Croatian, and Italian. 

Jean Van Hamme has declared that he will not continue to write the series, but William Vance is interested in continuing it with another writer. Yves Sente, who had already taken over writing Thorgal from Van Hamme, was interested to continue the series. He was contacted by William Vance and said he'd propose a story to Van Hamme, but no agreement has been reached yet. Ever since October 2008, Sente has authored volume 20 of the comic series (Mayflower Day), published in late 2011, alongside Youri Jigounov.

Tony Stark

This comic series was published at Éditions Fleurus, Novedi. The name similar but has nothing related with Marvel's Iron Man character persona. Tony Stark's genre is in Western action adventures.

Édouard Aidans drew Tony Stark, on script of Jean Van Hamme (for four of the six volumes), for publication in Super-As.
