Macbeth King of Scotland

11th century Scotland. Having returned to their kingdom after a long war against the Norwegian armies, Macbeth and Banquo, two valiant warriors, meet three witches in a storm. Their prophecy is clear: the first will become king, while the second will see his descendants become kings. The rest is well known history: murders, dramas and betrayals will be the body of one of Shakespeare’s most famous plays.

Guillaume Sorel and Thomas Day’s Macbeth, King of Scotland, is a new way of discovering this work. Based on the original play, these authors also include additional elements of the character from Scottish legend and bring out more of the quite Machiavellian Lady Macbeth, whose role in Shakespearean work is more secondary than posterity has retained. Prepare yourself for a dramatic and violent epic. A story full of blood and fury, marked with the seal of inevitable death!

The Grand Abyss Hotel (2019)

by Marcos Prior (Author), David Rubin (Illustrator). In The Grand Abyss Hotel, neoliberalism has become a state religion while the citizens quietly and then not-so-quietly rebel, giving way to violence on the streets and sowing chaos. A masked vigilante takes on the role of hero to battle politicians, the erosion of democracy, and social media. After the fires burn low and the dust settles, social order returns. Or does it? Marcos Prior and Eisner Award-nominated artist David Rubín (The Hero, Rumble, Battling Boy: The Rise of Aurora West) weave a politically satirical look at democracy today through the lense of hyper-violence and explosive action.

Elizabeth I - A True Book (2020)

by Nel Yomtov (Author). A True Book: Queens and Princess tells the stories of women who were born or married into royalty. Who were these women who ruled nations and kingdoms and touched the lives of their people? They led sensational and sometimes luxurious lives. They also made sacrifices. They impacted war and peace, politics and economics, culture and tradition. These queens and princesses were so much more than their bejeweled crowns! With engaging text, primary source material, infographics, photography, and artwork, Queens and Princesses follows these vibrant women from childhood to the end of their reign.

Exit Wounds (2007)

Learning that his estranged father may have been a victim of a suicide bombing in Hadera, Koby reluctantly joins the soldier in searching for clues. His death would certainly explain his empty apartment and disconnected phone line. As Koby tries to unravel the mystery of his father's death, he finds himself piecing together not only the last few months of his father's life but his entire identity. With thin, precise lines and luscious watercolors, Rutu Modan creates a portrait of modern Israel, a place where sudden death mingles with the slow dissolution of family ties.

A Matter Of Time (1985)

Metabarons series produced in collaboration with Alejandro Jodorowsky. In 1985 Catalan Communications collected a selection of time-travel related short stories (many of which had appeared in the American magazine Heavy Metal) usually known as the Time Paradox Tales into one glorious baroque and stunningly beautiful fantasy anthology with dark, sardonic and sublimely lyrical overtones of classic 2000AD Future Shocks or Twisted Times “sting-in-the-tale” stories combining space opera, futuristic Western elements, erotica, ancient Egyptian mysteries and modern aerial dogfights, and also featuring an introduction by Carlos Gimenez (no relation). Gritty, witty and ever so pretty, A Matter of Time is pure speculative gold: old-fashioned, cutting edge fantasy fun and entertainment with a satirical edge and its tongue firmly in its cheek.

Classics Illustrated: Joint European Series

The Joint European Series (JES) of Classics Illustrated was the term coined to represent those titles and issues printed across Europe -- which included versions in German, Swedish and Dutch. Sixty-seven different titles were published in these languages that were never originally published in English. In the 1980s -- long after CI were no longer commercially published -- a devotee of the series translated the JES titles and painstakingly adapted the artwork so that these could be appreciated in English for the first time.
