Attila Adventures

Attila Adventures also entitled Attila is a series of Franco-Belgian comics of adventure humorous animal created in 1967 by the Belgian writer Maurice Rosy and Swiss designer Derib in no.1531 of the newspaper Spirou. From 1968, Maurice Kornblum will co-write with Rosy scenarios of the series. The drawing will be resumed in 1987 by Didge for ultimate story.

The series features the dog Attila, spy of the Swiss army, whose mental faculties were increased, notably with the acquisition of speech, to become their best player. He is accompanied by his master Ernest Bourrillon, a former quartermaster. From the album no.2, it adopts a young boy named Odee, then from the next album, they are helped by another spy dog known as the Z14, created by Professor Comant.

Published in Spirou from 1967 to 1973 and then in 1987, this story is published alongside soft album Dupuis from 1969. The same publishing house published four albums until 1974, then a full in 2010. That same year, The Cow who meditates publishes the fifth story, hitherto unpublished, as an album.

Originally based on humor produced by the dog shift both spy and as another animal, the series will deviate to the world of science fiction. This intrusion will score a disagreement between the duo screenwriters Maurice Rosy - Maurice Kornblum and Derib designer who will prematurely end the series, though promised by lovers of comics to become a classic.

Yakari

Yakari is a Franco-Belgian comic book series, aimed at a younger audience, written by Job and illustrated by Derib, both from Switzerland.

Yakari has (on two occasions, 1983 and 2005) been adapted to a cartoon series on television, a movie was announced. Yakari is one of the most well-known Franco-Belgian comics in Europe.

Yakari is a young Sioux Native American who has the particularity to be able to understand and speak animal languages. During his adventures, he meets all sorts of North American animals. His best friends are a girl Sioux, "Rainbow", and his pony "Little Thunder". He has a totem animal, "Great Eagle", who frequently appears to him to give him critical advice.

The setting is the North American Great Plains, mainly. Horses have already been introduced by the Spanish, but there is no mentioning of white man whatsoever in the series. (In one book, there's even a mention by an old tribesman that there's a mystery how the horse came to the land, and that it hasn't always been there.) It can therefore be assumed that Yakari's adventures take place after the 15th century, but long before the settling rush in the late 18th/19th century.
The comic shows a very positive view of the culture of the Sioux and depicts them as peaceful people who live in harmony with nature.

Buddy Longway

Buddy Longway is a western comic book written by the Swiss comic book writer Derib. It is published under the Le Lombard publishing house. The first issue came out in 1972, and 16 issues were published until 1987 until Derib restarted the series in 2002, continuing with four further issues until 2006, until he announced that the 20th issue, La Source, would be the last.

Both the story arcs and the drawings are praised for the realistic portrayal of the simplistic, rough life as a trapper.

The series is a family saga which centers around the eponymous character Buddy Longway, a trapper who lives in the wilderness. He lives married to a Sioux Native Americanwoman called Chinook. In the course of the series, they have two children, Jeremy and Kathleen.
Main topics of the series, which is set in the 19th century, are living in the wilderness, interracial relationships, Native American culture, coming of age (Jeremy and Kathleen) and age (Buddy Longway).
