The New Ice Age Jdrien Cycle

Around 2050, the Moon explodes, undermined by nuclear waste stored by men. A gangue of various dust encircles the Earth, depriving it of solar light and heat. The post-disaster night sets in. Ice climbs pushing back surviving populations to protected islands. Around 2350, a new civilization settled, dominated by clans that control the railway lines, replacing the power of nation-states.  The New Ice Age Jdrien Cycle. A comic by Philippe Bonifay and Studio Jotim.
2350. The Earth is no more than a glacial cap dotted with domes under which various populations live. The people are, one suspects, the most unfortunate: they live under temperatures of less than 15 °. The Aiguilleurs are the masters of the railways, whose motto, "immobility, it is death, mobility, it is life" indicates that cities, dwellings can be transported at any moment. Here are the Shareholders who control everything, especially wealth. They live in an opulence that contrasts with the misery of the People. And then, the Roux, mysterious beings who are cold-weathered and endowed with an impressive sexual appetite. Who are they, where do they come from? Will they be the engine that will cause a society to collapse from injustice, arbitrariness and violence? Indeed, in the image of a pack ice, everything seems frozen in this cloisonné world. Until the day when a simple civil servant, Lien Rag, begins to ask disturbing questions, likely to waver the fortresses on rail.

Artesia

Artesia is an epic fantasy comic book series authored and illustrated by American artist Mark Smylie. Artesia is also the name of the heroine of the cycle. Smylie has described her as a "Pagan Joan of Arc", to use a popular reference, while noting that the closest historical model is the Irish Queen Medb. Themes in the series include feudal politics, intrigue, and power struggles, complex mythology and world history, and strong female characters.
Currently the series is composed of four "books": Artesia, Artesia Afield, Artesia Afire and Artesia Besieged. Each book is composed of six episodes, or fairly American standard comic book-sized episodes. Each book has been followed by an annual compendium including short stories and details of the history, geography and mythology of Artesia's universe. The books together constitute part of a cycle called The Book of Dooms. Smylie has said that it would take 22 books to tell Artesia's story in full, but that at least 7 will be completed "hell or high water".

Fazekas' Star Wars

Attila Fazekas is a Hungarian képregény (comic) artist who got his start in the 1970s. In 1982, he published an unlicensed two-part adaptation of Star Wars with scripts by Tibor Cs. Horváth. Remarkably, over 300,000 copies each were sold in this country of 10.71 million people and by some accounts, this "was the most popular comic book of all times ever published and sold" in Hungary. Artist Attila Fazekas began adapting the Star Wars films in 1982, working off the screenplays, as well as countless theater viewings. That caused the illustrations to either be incredibly accurate or slightly generic. About 300,000 to 500,000 copies of the Hungarian comic book versions of Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back were sold in the country. But Marvel Comics, which had the license at the time to publish Star Wars comics, found about them and forced the artists to stop before The Return of the Jedi could be adapted.

Black Sheep Squadron

Time passes and the heroes are forgotten. Not all however. Some of them see their history brought back to light through cinema or television. Like an American pilot, commander of a squadron, the 214, based in the Pacific during the last world war. Gregory Boyington. Good pilot but little known of the public, it will enter the legend thanks to a soap turned cult, Heads burned with Robert Conrad in the role of major Boyington. The beginning of media success for this alcoholic pilot, brawler but good squadron leader. A successful soap opera completed by the publication of the pilot's memories. Certainly embellished but as James Stewart says in The Man Who Killed Liberty Valance, when the legend goes beyond reality, print the legend.

Chaboute

After ten years in prison Zoe is no longer afraid of solitude. So, when she leaves, she decides to go and live alone in the small village of La Goule, inheriting from her grandmother's house. Of course she expected a difficult integration, but all the same! The reception of the villagers is particularly inhospitable ... Zoé disturbs them, but in what? The hints of sorcery that emanate here and there are a staging intended to make it flee or the clues of some secret practice to which this strange community is engaged ... In the pages Christophe Chabouté raises the suspense and transforms A remote village in a deadly spider web. A detail, a look, a light and the trees themselves become menacing to the point that the reader shares the anguish of Zoe, the prey of these monsters with a human face. A graphic of beauty, playing both the nervousness of the line and the flat blacks, confirms the talent of this young author awarded at the last festival of Angouleme.

Lydie

This is just a little one-shot with a sweet story, I wouldn't really know how to categorise it. Basically, inter-war France, a young woman's baby dies at birth, a couple of months later, she says it's come back to her, but no-one can see it. The book's pretty cute.

Maybe this Tuesday

Achilles, a man in his forties, has just buried his parents. He likes to sit on the beach below his house and watch the passing ships heading for the high seas. So much so that one evening he falls asleep sitting on his chair with both feet firmly buried in the sand. However, when he awakes he is unable to move: during the night he has literally taken root. As a huge storm brews over his island, a seagull flies towards him. The seagull, which can talk, informs Achilles on which day of the week he will die: a Tuesday. But which one? That's the question. Fortunately today is a Wednesday. The tide is rising and will soon flood the beach. If the seagull is telling the truth Achilles needs to uproot himself quickly to avoid drowning. It would appear that the time has come for him to cease contemplating passing ships...
